I’m John, an Applied Software Engineering student building dependable products with Java, Spring Boot, SQL, and an increasingly serious interest in cloud delivery.
00 / Approach
I don’t collect technologies. I use them to turn ambiguous problems into software people can actually navigate, trust, and maintain.
My strongest work sits where backend logic, human workflows, and production thinking meet—from authentication and data models to testing, deployment, and the final interaction.
The goal is not novelty for its own sake. It is considered software: clear structure, honest trade-offs, and detail that holds up beyond the demo.
01 / Selected work
Four projects showing product thinking, service architecture, security, data, and delivery.
02 / Capabilities
A working stack organised by confidence and practical use, not a wall of logo badges.
01
Database-backed services, layered application structure, authentication flows, validation, and server-rendered product interfaces.
02
Collaborative Git workflows, relational migrations, automated checks, infrastructure practice, and deployment planning.
03
The areas I am deliberately pushing deeper: production readiness, security review, cloud systems, and stronger test strategy.
03 / Journey
2024 — NOW
Education / Cardiff University
A BCS-accredited, project-led degree at the National Software Academy, shaped by client briefs, Agile teamwork, demonstrations, code feedback, and reflective delivery.
2023 — NOW
Experience / Currys, Cardiff
Front-line technical support: diagnosing device and software issues, supporting repairs and data transfers, and translating technical next steps for non-technical customers.
2022 — 2023
Experience / Caffè Nero, Llandudno
Led teams and kept service moving under pressure—early evidence that communication, ownership, and calm problem-solving matter just as much as technical ability.
